Kay Kay, Me Without You, The Dear Hunter tooooor

kaykayandhisweatheredunderground.com wrote:

first off a muchas gracias to everyone who came out and saw us at the crocodile last friday night and a hearty sorry if you didn't get in to see the spectacle. it sold-out quickly, but was all family, friends and smiles. kyle, thomas and kirk have known the dr. helicopter boys it feels like for eons and it was a pleasure to see those furry fellows as well as another of portland's best, the builders and butchers. those boys like playin' and we were obliged to listen. again, thank you so much, we played far longer than our set time allowed and nobody stopped us, that was just sprinkles on the donut. we enjoyed playing so much we thought, damn, why not do a whole string of dates and why not do them with me without you and the dear hunter?

you can check the dates next door.
and for all those east coasters who constantly hate on the fact we've never gotten the chance to get to your side of the country, you better be out IN DROVES...
that's 45 minutes of us a night folks.

see you then...

Another Kay Kay Interview!

In our humble opinion, the compact disc format is dated and disposable. Digital audio sounds like balls and we prefer hearing our music in a more dynamic setting. We believe listeners will definitely enjoy the listening experience on vinyl more.

Kay Kay Interview in PerformerMag

When Gatsby’s lapsed into inactivity, the two friends found themselves back home in Seattle with a cache of musical ideas that they were eager to get down on tape. Almost immediately, Huffman suggested working with his acquaintance Phil Peterson. “Phil has this studio in this cool old classic Northwest home,” Huffman suggested. “Plus he’s just kind of a quirky interesting guy, and he plays cello, and he’d be perfect for the project.” Peterson quickly agreed and became the final core member of the group, taking on the George Martin role to the other two’s Lennon and McCartney. But as Huffman explains, “By no means did we want to come home and try to start another band and get back out on the road. Iwas just jaded from the whole scene. Ithink we all felt like we needed to capture our sense of normalcy.”
